Fall 2002 season is upon us. This Fall is my 11th year providing
classes in Yoga and Pilates. As always, our staff is growing and
changing, to keep life interesting and to help inspire and educate
you with the latest and the best in Alternative
Fitness.
After 11 years our program is still considered the best
in Philadelphia and I am so thankful and appreciative of your
dedication and patronage.
This season we will be rededicating the business to Pilates and
to smaller, more personalized, classes. The big room will
become the equipment room. The yoga room will move to the
newly remodeled upstairs room and Pilates Mat will be done in
the old equipment room. Our Fall Season will run for 15 weeks.
The new computer System will allow for greater flexibility in
registration so, you can register for all 15 weeks at once.
Ask at the front desk about our
New Core Basics Program.
Fee structure has also changed. I have listened to all feedback
from the sign in book in the changing room to the feedback phone messages.
For all you 4 x per weekers...the $10 per class fee is back.
I hope the new fee structure makes everyone’s life happier and
easier.
I am very excited to begin our Fall Season with a new workshop dedicated to BODY ROLLING. Body Rolling will be introduced on Mon.-Wed.
5:30p & Saturdays,(12:00 noon. I will be teaching this class and
look forward to sharing what I have learned about the body.
Instructors who were invited back to teach this Fall are:
Maria Garre, Yoga, Linda Silva, Pilates Mat and Equipment
and Christine Garvey, Pilates Mat.
I would also like to welcome to AHFC two new apprentice teachers
Natasha Conklin and Becca Sherwood. They will be teaching our Core Basics Yoga and Pilates evening classes.
Good Teachers are hard to find. What constitutes a good teacher is
more than just teaching. Dedication to the pursuit of knowledge,
being a team player and practicing what you teach are essential
elements, and integrity. I thank the teachers at AHFC for their
continued dedication to learning and providing great classes at the studio.
Lastly, I am issuing a challenge.
15 weeks of Pilates Circuit Training. This class will include body
rolling, mat and learning how to workout on all pieces of equipment.
The goal is to work up to the level where Pilates becomes aerobic,
moving from one piece of equipment to another within a 30 second
interval for greater cardiovascular and strength benefits will be
stressed. Alignment and good form are a must.
See you in September.

Pilates is frequently used at the studio. This technique is versatile, fun and gives immediate results to your body-mind. Some major tenants are abdominal stabilization, to protect the back and make the torso strong, spinal sequencing--being able to move your spine in sequence--bone by bone(for alignment strength) and breathing. Being able to coordinate the breathing with the movements is a crucial universal and uniting principle for creating fluid and balanced motion.
