TIPS FOR THE INFORMED CONSUMER....



  • BE PROACTIVE
    You have the right to ask questions regarding your practitioner's diagnosis, approach, treatment methods, and outcome. DVWN can supply you with a practitioner's approach, treatment method, and speciality. You can request to interview a practitioner over the phone or at their office.

  • CHECK OUT THE CREDENTIALS OF PRACTITIONERS
    Since training and regulations of holistic practitioners vary from state to state, it is up to you to ask relevant questions regarding a practitioner's training and credentials. DVWN refers only credentialed professionals, so check with us for further information on practitioner credentials and backgrounds.

  • PARTICIPATE IN YOUR TREATMENT
    The more involved you are in your care the better. You can ask your practitioner for additional suggestions. Perhaps you want homework, perhaps you need another treatment approach, or a group to support your progress. You can call DVWN again and again, weĠre here to help you connect to many specialists.

  • BE EDUCATED
    Take time to gather information. DVWN'S Guide to the Complementary Therapies can help you gather information about many therapies. Educate yourself by reading books and articles, talking to practitioners, and attending workshops and group meetings.

  • TRUST YOUR INTUITION
    Your intuition can help you in finding the right practitioner. However, If you are uncomfortable with any care provider for any reason, address it. If you are dissatisfied with your practitioner please call the DVWN for a new referral, it may take time until you find the right practitioner. For serious problems, call the professional association of your provider.
